Remember those car shows, the ones with the bikini clad models showcasing the latest in automotive artistry-advancement? Well, this isn’t that kind of story. However….

After high school, and during college, I had signed with a few temporary agencies with which to supplement my income. I had gained a reputation working the local trade shows/conventions in New Orleans, Louisiana, for a variety of national/international clients. On one occasion, I was contacted regarding a highly confidential assignment at the upcoming (and highly anticipated by some) automotive convention. The client was seeking to present a certain image. And, only those who could maintain strict confidentiality were considered.

One of 4/5 women, we met with (for lack of a better term) our handler and received the ‘costumes’ that we would be wearing for the day of the event. These consisted of safari type shorts and shirts (long sleeve), bush hats tucked up on one side (think Australia, which at the time was a huge fascination for Americans), and sandy colored army boots.

Now comes the day of the assignment. We still have no idea what we are about to present. And, then……. the big reveal. My first thought was….I can’t believe I’m involved with an arms deal. This ‘vehicle’ resembled a tank. But, much more street-worthy.

And, that tank turned out to be the HUMMER!!!
